| VILLAGES, BOLONGS AND SEASHORES OF CASAMANCE Introducing one of most authentic region of West Africa : the mysterious and enchanting Casamance; this itinerary will take you deep into the heart of Africa and its traditions. Day 1 : Ziguinchor Arrival in Ziguinchor: greetings and settling in the hotel, lunch taken at a local restaurant. Your first day is dedicated to the discovery of this bohemian city, the centre and its colonial houses, the fishermen neighbourhood and the local markets (Escale and St.Maur). Dinner and night spent at the hotel. Days 2 and 3 : The Cap Skirring Ocean Seashores Breakfast, departure to Cap Skirring and its wonderful seashores. Lunch in a local restaurant, and afternoon dedicated to long walks on the white-sanded beach, and total relax. Dinner and night spent in a ‘Campement-style’ lodge facing the ocean. The next day, visit to the Kabrousse village, lunch and free time in the afternoon at the beach. Return to Ziguinchor at the end of the day, dinner and night spent at the hotel. Day 4 : Djilapao / Affiniam The day of the pirogue excursion: you will admire pelicans, herons, pink flamingos and all of the multiple species inhabiting the river. Visit of Djilapao Island, lunch in a local lodge/restaurant and afternoon walk in the nearby village. Back to Ziguinchor in the early evening, dinner and night spent at the hotel Days 5 and 6: The Diola Villages Discovering the the Diola Villages: departure in local transport service towards Oussoye, reaching Elinkine for lunch. Sailing the river to Carabane Island, and settling in a ‘Campement-style’ accommodation. Discovering the island, and its historical relics, dinner and night spent at the lodge. The next day, relaxing on the island river banks, and departs to Elinkine: lunch and drive back to Ziguinchor. Dinner and night spent at the Hotel. Day 7 : Djibelor and Solidarity Action Visit to a crocodile farm, discovery of multiple species of trees and plants. Then, the Solidarity Action will take place: the 10% of the trip rate will be given back to you, and reinvested towards an assistance project, together with local communities. You will actively participate to the project, an authentic source of integration and understanding. Dinner and night spent at the hotel. Day 8 : Local Arts & Crafts, Departure The Crafts Market, purchase of souvenirs and art objects. Back to the hotel, and preparation for the return trip. |
