Jessica.

I’ve just returned from a month in Senegal and one of the highlights was the amazing experience I had in Casamance thanks to the HELP Travel team. I’ve been blessed to have had many opportunities to travel on our amazing planet but this was one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had. A truly unique way to travel that will appeal to those who are looking to see life on the inside in a stunning, spiritual place…
I came to check out HELP with the idea of eventually bringing a small group of high school students to do a project and now I’m convinced that this is the surely the best formula for immersing young people in the culture where they can share experiences with local people and for providing them a wonderful hands- on experience where they can see the fruits of their efforts. It was heartening to see the HELP projects in various villages. From the first moments, I felt immediately at home thanks to Luca , Mansour, Abu, Kalilou, and Tonton. Their enthusiasm and humor were contagious and they responded immediately to my curious nature. Great opportunity for exchanges with Abu, Mansour and Tonton All were knowledgeable local guides . Kalilou shared and I had many long discussions and I got to help cook!
I’ll never forget the warmth and hospitality of the people we met along the way (thanks to all the goodwill spread by HELP and previous travelers). I definitely plan to come back.
If you are looking for an authentic experience in West Africa, this is it.

**** Some wonderful memories, I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend !!!
We visited a local village where we interacted with the locals via a game of football which surprisingly we won!
We then took this opportunity to make a donation to the village in the form of football equipment. Although this may seem like a luxury it is a big social status in Senegal to at least have a matching kit for the team, oh yes and a football helps too!
The villagers were delighted as their football season was just about to commence.
Also in the whole of Senegal (but especially Ziginchor) the people were very special - happy, friendly and very laid back.
Do not be put off by the "trouble" in Casamance. When you are in the Casamance region you do not remotely feel unsafe.
Luca knows the area very well having lived here for many years and so you can be assured that you will be in safe hands.
The local guides, driver and chef (great food by the way) were all local and very friendly.
They seemed very happy in their jobs.
At the local village where we played football I also saw the work of other H.E.L.P. Travel volunteers which included a new well to ensure a year round water supply and fencing which had been erected to protect the women’s vegetable patches from roaming animals.
These are all small scale enterprises which produce instant results.

GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR STUDENTS !!!
I have recently returned to Colorado after traveling for 3 weeks through the Casamance region with our high school students and HELP Travel.
The experience was profound. HELP delivered on its promise to offer a custom program and connect us, genuinely, with the people and culture.
For the first time in my many years of leading such trips, the students, and myself, were not longing to return to the comforts of home. Rather, though we were excited to see our families and beds, we were reticent to leave the connected, raw and "pas de probleme" way of life we experienced in Senegal for 3 brilliant weeks.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me: davise@lws.edu. Thanks!

I could write in this guestbook for hours if i really wanted to, but i will try to keep it brief. Traveling to Senegal for a month through H.E.L.P. was the most amazing and influential month of my life so far. Every single guide was incredible, from their sense of humor to their knowledge about everything. Luca and Mark are awesome and did everything in their power to make us feel confortable. Thank you to the entire staff of H.E.L.P. for a memorable and incredible trip. I will return someday.

Love,
Daniel (Frenchie)
